Residing in Ohlone territory / Oakland CA, Aika aka GHOSTMiLK (thxy/hx/shx) is a multidisciplinary creative + organizer who’s been dappling in sound blending (DJing) for 4+ years and production for about a year. Thxy’re an experimental artist who’s goal is to create spaces that are centering the safety joy and healing of Black, Brown, Trans, Femmes, Queer, Gender non-conforming people- an extra emphasis on Black Trans and Queer people! As a humxn who often times experienced rejection on multiple fronts for existing in their truth(s), it feels pivotal that these spaces are cultivated -whether those modes of liberation are translated into sound, or in our every day interactions. GHOSTMiLK believes in expressing our raw authenticity and uplifting the magic that resides in us while simultaneously fighting for, and protecting us as a community. GHOSTMiLK is being summoned to bring you some silly wacky hard fucking bass where you’ll be left feeling spiritually moisturized, eerie dark ambient swag that gotchu you feeling beautifully haunted, and a dash of Nintendocore to bring you into their fantasy world that is their obscure minD. ~

What does liberation mean to you?

I enjoy bringing our very magical communities together because like nature, it's a mode of healing that naturally falls into the resistance of settler colonialism. In working towards the liberation of BIQTPOC people, I seek to expand communal healing and to participate in the deconstruction of social capital by leaning towards decolonized information sharing and skill trading in a fun, creative, accessible way. I understand joy and creative healing spaces as a revolutionary political act. Being a Black sonic alchemist is a revolutionary political act. DJ heroes lmao +++
