Tygapaw - "Who Can't Hear Must Feel"
“This song is easily one my favorites. It does such a great job of building tension with very few elements. While the instrumentation is relatively minimal the engineering is rather maximal. It’s a great reminder that music can always tell a story: even a dark one.”
Dakuan - "Nevo"
“This song is a very aggressive take on the genre. While it fits to LoFi as far as production goes, it isn’t nearly as cloud-like. The oddly tuned hi-hats give the top rhythm of the song a more experimental feel. While most lofi tracks are like a trip through dreamscape, this is more like a fire-fight in a spaceship”
MoMa Ready- "Always On My Mind"
“Always On My Mind always puts me in a good mood. I typically end up reminiscing about .... something because of this song. The vibe falls awfully close to House, but I feel like it could easily still be considered Techno.”
Qemist - "Kill Ur Ego"
“‘Kill Ur Ego’ is one of my favorite tracks by the Qemist. This is definitely a song I listen to in an effort to remember what clubbing felt like. Instead of FOMO this song gives me LORD (Lack of Rave Depression). I can’t wait till this pandemic is over, so I can hear this track in the club.”
Leonce - "Predators"
“Predators easily sums up the idea of Afro-Futurism (in my opinion). It definitely opens up the idea of what black rhythm might sound like in a paralell universe. I automatically think of black astronauts when I hear this song.”
UNIIQU3 - "CUMMIN FOR COMMA$"
“I don’t really have much of an explanation for why I love this one so much. It’s just great. The Jersey genius has made a multitude of great music.”
BEARCAT - "THE Bells"
“I’ve been a fan of Bearcat for a while (after seeing her set on Boiler Room). A great thing about Bearcat’s musical approach is the ability to use a multitude of samples and sounds to tell a story under a well defined melody and above a solid rhythm. Bearcat’s vibe is often very dark and a bit occultist.”
