Bio

Trovarsi is an LA-based music composer/producer, live electronic artist, educator, and streaming YouTube host. Over the past decade, Trovarsi has released her music on a wide variety of notable electronic music labels. Her work transcends genres, cultures, and boundaries, yet also authentically and reverentially embraces many creative traditions. With a hybrid blend of modular and analog synthesizers, drum machines, and Ableton, Trovarsi embraces Afrofuturistic electronic expression while remaining firmly planted by her musical roots.

She is also co-founder of the Southern California Synth Society, whose purpose is to educate and facilitate interest in electronic music through synthesizers, modular DIY builds, and community events.

Whether performing in the LA underground or on global streaming platforms, Trovarsi continues to push the boundaries of electronic music.

What Does Liberation Mean To You?

For me, liberation is about the fundamental freedom to express myself in all forms. It’s been a long journey but I’m finally at a place in my life and in my music career where I’m comfortable with myself, as a woman of color and as a performance artist. I’m able to create the music and stories that are meaningful to me and reflect the unique experiences I’ve had in my life. From my earliest musical instruction and exploration, to my time spent in the clubs as a teen and young adult, and now as a live musician in turn, I hope my artistic expressions and outreach programs can inspire my own children and all young people of color who may have that spark of creativity, but lack the knowledge or opportunity to further their craft. We aren’t here to be gatekeepers for the next generation or perpetuate those barriers that we faced when trying to become successful. That’s a whole other level of liberation in itself. It’s more than just creative control of your work or having a platform for your ideas, but ultimately about economic liberation, which would provide women of color a greater chance of equality and equity in the music industry.
