As one starts to question reality, OPEN 2 CLOSE captures the reality for many who are caught in the matrix while pushing at full force, just to keep up. 92JELANI references his working life outside of the musical realm. Heavy, driving grooves paired with layered melodies pace his daily commute. Tracks like “Locked In” and “Objections” soundtrack our struggle with work-life balance using messages of melodic, yet contrasting sounds. The closing track, “Zero Gravity” is both a nod to the DC moombahton era that 92JELANI grew up in, and references a position that takes pressure off the body while sleeping. This signifies the end of the EP, which ends at the exact time he arrives at his job.
