BLACK TECHNO MATTERS presents its 30th digital release, TWIN FLAME, by Baltimore’s SDOT. Since taking his sound from Charm City to South Africa to Brazil, SDOT has added new elements to his repertoire. This three-track EP reflects both the high-energy, shake-off vibe of Baltimore Club that he’s known for and the melodic and syncopated Afro-house-infused tones that blend seamlessly into his latest music. Twin Flame kicks off with a vibrant remix of James Nasty’s “Make It Hot,” an instant introduction to SDOT’s evolved sound. SDOT merges both his and Nasty’s signature sample-based, heavy breakbeat style of Club with bright keys and addictive polyrhythms. In “I Trusted U,” SDOT takes it deeper and darker with fellow Baltimore artist, Tr1zzTakeFlight. A backing choir and keys ride congas, drones, and a massive, grimy low-end. Closing out the EP are AmentheProducer and SDOT with “Smack,” which is highlighted by a relentless, heavy-hitting beat and a catchy hook. Overall, Twin Flame gives fans of SDOT a fresh glimpse into how he’s included a dynamic diasporic experience to his style of Club music.
